What to pack for the Hidroeléctrica route

• Original passport or ID: It is required to enter Machu Picchu.
• Machu Picchu ticket: Printed or on your phone.
• Your HidroBus ticket: On your phone or printed.
• Cash in soles: There are almost no ATMs at Hidroeléctrica or along the way.

• Warm jacket: For the early morning and Abra Málaga.
• Light, breathable shirt: For the walk.
• Poncho or rain jacket: Especially from November to March, in the rainy season.
• Comfortable shoes with good grip: The walk is over stones and railway sleepers.

• Motion sickness pills: If winding roads affect you (ask your doctor or pharmacist).
• A light snack and water: The trip takes almost 8 hours.
• Neck pillow: If you want to sleep on the way.
• Power bank: There is no cell signal on the route; we are testing on-board internet, but not every vehicle may have it.

• Insect repellent: There are lots of mosquitoes in the jungle.
• Sunscreen and a cap: The sun is strong along the tracks.
• Flashlight: Or your phone light, in case you arrive late.
• Light backpack: Avoid carrying big suitcases.

• Wheeled suitcases: They are useless on the walk.
• Too many clothes: You can leave your luggage at your hotel in Cusco.
